Interview with Dr. Krystal Gage
What can you be caught doing on the weekends?
On the weekends, you can usually catch me taking my dogs, Max and Toby, out for a walk, getting in a good workout at the gym, cooking up a storm in the kitchen as I prep meals for the week, and/or spending quality time with family and friends.
Where did you go on your favorite vacation and what did you do?
One of my favorite vacations was an unforgettable trip to Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Parks. I’ve always enjoyed spending time outdoors and appreciating the beauty of nature, and these parks offered it all—from stunning mountain views and pristine lakes to diverse wildlife. Exploring each park felt like discovering a new world, with every hike and scenic lookout showing off something awe-inspiring. It was a perfect escape into the great outdoors, filled with breathtaking scenery and moments of peaceful connection with nature.
What is one thing you want every person to know about his or her smile?
One thing I want everyone to know about their smile is that it’s truly one of their most unique and powerful features. A genuine smile can brighten a room, lift the spirits of those around, and create an instant, positive connection with others. Smiles are memorable because they reflect our emotions and personality, so it’s worth taking the time to care for and feel confident about your smile—it’s something only you can share in your own special way.
Have you ever had orthodontic treatment (braces, headgear, Invisalign, etc)? If so, how old were you?
I’ve actually had orthodontic treatment twice—once when I was a teenager and again as an adult! I decided to pursue treatment later in life to address a gummy smile, something I felt a bit self-conscious about. During my residency to become an orthodontist, I attended a lecture that showcased how temporary anchorage devices (TADs) could be used to correct gummy smiles without jaw surgery. This lecture inspired me to give it a try, so I wrote my own treatment plan, and my professors and co-residents provided the care. The experience was completely worth it, and now I truly love my smile!
What is your favorite movie of all time? How many times would you guess you have seen it?
There are a few movies I love rewatching each year to get into the holiday spirit and bring back great childhood memories. ‘Hocus Pocus,’ ‘The Christmas Story,’ and ‘Home Alone’ are my go-to favorites for this time of year. Watching them has become a yearly tradition, so I’ve probably seen each one 20-30 times by now!
Do you have any pets? If so, what are their names?
Yes, I have two wonderful dogs named Max and Toby. They’re a big part of my life and bring so much joy to my days. Whether we’re out on a walk, playing fetch, or just relaxing at home, they’re always by my side. Max and Toby each have their own personalities, and they never fail to make me smile!
What do you like most about working at Campbell Orthodontics?
What I like most about working at Campbell Orthodontics is helping people feel confident about their smiles and working with such a dedicated team! It’s incredibly rewarding to see how a transformed smile can boost someone’s self-esteem and bring them happiness. The team here feels like family—we all support each other and are committed to providing the best care possible. It’s a fantastic environment to be a part of every day!
What is your favorite book or author, and why does it resonate with you?
One book (and TV series!) I really enjoyed was Call the Midwife by Jennifer Worth. I found it incredibly resonant because it beautifully captures the challenges and triumphs of midwifery in post-war London. The stories of compassion, resilience, and community really speak to me, and I appreciate how the author highlights the importance of caring for others during their most vulnerable moments. It’s a powerful reminder of the strength of the human spirit and the impact that kindness and support can have in our lives.
