When should you take your child to visit an orthodontist for the first time? As a parent, you may be wondering when it’s appropriate to bring your child in to see us. According to the American Association of Orthodontists, children should receive an orthodontic evaluation by age 7. While your child may not need braces at this age, certain problems do benefit from early treatment.  Often there are simple techniques that can be done at an early age that can prevent major issues from arising later down the road.  Early treatment can reduce the amount of treatment needed as children get older, and sometimes even eliminate it totally.

Rubber bands aren’t just there for show. They are essential to the success of your orthodontic treatment! If we prescribe them as part of your treatment plan, make sure you wear them at all times unless you are eating or brushing your teeth.

Why Wear Rubber Bands? Patients may forego wearing bands because they don’t understand their function. First, let’s take a look at the different parts of braces:

· Brackets are small metal squares that adhere to your teeth.

· Then, archwire are metal wires that connect the brackets to help your teeth move.

· Between orthodontic visits, ligatures hold the archwire in place.

· Your rubber bands connect to the brackets and hooks.

Orthodontic Staff Appreciation Week


Dr. Campbell would like to recognize her outstanding team for Orthodontic Staff Appreciation Week! She is so proud of her fun, hard-working staff and is incredibly thankful for the positive environment they create at our office. From answering phone calls after hours and at lunch, finding time to fix all the poking wires and lost brackets, and working miracles to keep the schedule running smoothly, this office just wouldn’t be the same without their exceptional efforts.
